Interesting vid about Stafford Beers work in Allende's Chile.

A boondogle is useless, wasteful, or trivial work personally I disagree with the idea that this is an accurate representation of Beers efforts in Chile.

Beers work on second order cybernetics  is pretty ground-breaking and his own explanation of what happened in Chile which is featured in the Heart of enterprise is well worth a read.

Personally I think the control room  was simply a prototype  for the application of some innovative ideas and should be thought of as such. The political fallout surrounding its discovery and the spin subsequently applied is something else entirely.

Imagine what beer and Allende were trying to do  in the 70's in a third world country with a failing economy. They were seeking to implement a new model not just of control but of involvement and social democracy. I don't really think that this idea comes across in the  vid but I still found it an interesting watch.
